The protesters waved black flags and raised slogans against the Prime Minister, who is on a visit to the city for the Defence Expo. They assembled at the arrival gate of the Chennai airport and raised demands for setting up of the Cauvery Management Board. They chanted “Modi go back!” Police rounded up close to 100 persons from the spot.

As he was being led away, Bharathiraja said, “We will welcome the Prime Minister here only on the day he acts on the demands of the people of Tamil Nadu. We will oppose his presence here until then.”

Director Ameer said, “The Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister must appeal to the Prime Minister to set up the board instead of welcoming him with a green carpet.” Seeman echoed the same sentiment and added “The Defence Expo is a move to hinder and oppress the Tamil people. The state government is colluding with the Center only to save its term in power.”

Later, Bharathiraja refused to leave the hall in which they were held without the release of Ameer and Seeman. Police were forced to release Seeman though he was an accused in the IPL protest case.
