Techie electrocuted in bid to save crow from overhead cable
A 27-year-old software professional was electrocuted when he tried to save a crow that got stuck on a live electric wire on Thursday night. The man died in front of his pregnant wife, while the crow survived and flew away, police said.

The deceased Ram Kumar, staff at a leading IT firm and a resident of Meenakshipuram in Pallikaranai was staying in an apartment complex along with his wife Pavithra (25), who is seven months pregnant with twins.
On Thursday evening after returning from work, Ram Kumar and Pavithra was sitting on the balcony of their apartment.
While they were chatting, the couple noticed a crow that was entangled on a live electricity line, trying hard to rescue itself. Both Ram Kumar and his wife felt pity for the bird and tried to save the bird. “Ram Kumar took a plastic mop from his house and hit the cable.
The crow flew away. However, as the mop was wet, Ram Kumar was electrocuted and was thrown out of the balcony,” police said. Shocked by this, his wife screamed for help.
Neighbours who rushed to the spot, took Ram Kumar to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Later, Pallikaranai police sent the body an autopsy at Chromepet Government Hospital.
