The project is aimed at integrating transport facilities across the city, the first of which is the skywalk connecting the bus depot and railway station in T Nagar.

The skywalk was conceptualised as a part of CMDA’s second master plan, which will be executed under the Greater Chennai Corporation’s Smart City initiative.

Spanning a length of 0.60 km and metres in width, the skywalk will be connecting the foot over bridge via the Railway Border Road and Madley Road to T Nagar Bus Depot. People can reach this skywalk from either the T Nagar bus stop or Mambalam railway station.

An official release stated that the Railways has approved the integration of the railway foot over bridge with the city corporation’s skywalk with the escalator facility. The design of the skywalk has been drawn up and work on the final draft report by the consultant is under way, following which work on the project will soon commence.
