When contacted by DT Next, Assistant Commissioner of police, Selaiyur, said, “We are conducting inquiries and so far Vijayan has been denying the allegations.” The traffic case in connection with the death of the girl is currently pending in Chengalpet court.
Meanwhile, Vijayan reacted to the accusations and told DT Next that it was impossible for him to be involved in such a matter. “How can one withdraw a criminal case pending in court? I have never interacted with the girl’s mother. I also gave a written statement to the Assistant Commissioner saying I was not involved in this. I think somebody is trying to intimidate me. If the family continues to harass mem, I will file a defamation case against them,” Vijayan said. He was arrested for Sruthi’s death in 2012.
In July 2012, Sruthi, was returning home from school in Indira Nagar, Selaiyur, Tambaram, and when she was about to get down at Manimangalam junction on Mudichur Road, she suddenly slipped through the hole under the seat of the bus to the road below the was run over. She had died on the spot.
