‘Wanted’ posters of Shekher pop up across Chennai
Putting more pressure on the City Police, which is already under fire from the court for not arresting actor-BJP leader S Ve Shekher for making derogatory comments against women media professionals, activists have put up his posters on city walls proclaiming him as ‘wanted’.

The cadres of Makkal Mandram have begun putting up these posters in and around Mylapore on Tuesday, also urging the public to alert the nearest police station if they happen to see Shekher.
The apparent move to shame Shekher – and the Police – came after the police’s failure to arrest the actor, who has even been making public appearance despite being booked on women harassment charges by the cybercrime wing of Central Crime Branch.
“He should be arrested without any further delay,” said a woman activist of Makkal Mandram. The campaign has invited bouquets and brickbats, as Makkal Mandram representatives said they have been getting calls appreciating their campaign as well as threats from alleged right-wing activists.
However, Foreshore Estate police, under whose jurisdiction Shekher’s residence falls, maintained that there was no case against him within their limit, adding that there was no instruction from higher officials to arrest him.
However, a senior officer claimed that the police would take appropriate action against the actor. “There is no politics involved in the case,” the officer claimed.
