Tainted Assistant Commissioners shunted out of city police
Looks like the City Police administration doesn’t want tainted officers in Chennai, as an Assistant Commissioner who was caught negotiating bribe with accused’s kin has been put on vacancy reserve list while another assistant commissioner caught in another case earlier has been transferred to Tiruvarur.

While Teynampet Assistant Commissioner C S Muthazhagu was initially transferred to Central Crime Branch on Monday hours after the controversial audio clip went viral, police sources said that he has been put in the Vacancy Reserve list as per the orders from DGP T K Rajendran.
On Monday, three audio clips containing the conversations between Muthazhagu and the brother of Sundar, a suspect who was arrested at gun point in the first week of May in Chennai along with ‘Rocket’ Raja, surfaced on social media.
In the audio, the AC is offered Rs 5 lakh by the person on the other end, to which the officer replies that the amount would not even cover his tea expenses.
N Sundar and N Prakash of Tirunelveli, K Rajasundar of Palayamkottai, and A Nandagopal of Irumbuliyur were arrested from Tirunelveli two months ago on charges of abducting and assaulting RSV Karthik Sethupathi, one of the heirs of Ramnad estate, to seize estate’s properties. They had come out on bail, but were arrested again along with Rocket Raja.
As the audio clip is said to be recorded in February, it is believed that the conversation took place much before the three were nabbed.
Similarly, P K Kamil Basha, the Tirumangalam Assistant Commissioner from whose office DVAC sleuths seized Rs 5.08 lakh in cash, has been transferred out of Chennai and posted as DSP (Social justice and Human Rights) in Tiruvarur. They were among the 55 DSPs and ACs who were transferred on Monday.
