Man stabs friend to death, hangs self

According to police, Saravanan (30) and Prabu (28) were residents of Narasingapuram, a small settlement between the Ritchie street and Simson campus on Mount Road.

Though they were friends from childhood and working in the same electronic shop on Ritchie Street, they were not on talking terms due to some differences for the past few months.

On Sunday night, when Prabu was at the warehouse of the shop in the locality, Saravanan too went there.

Sources said that they got into a fight and in a fit of rage, Saravanan stabbed Prabu with a knife on his face and hands to death. As Prabu collapsed and died on the spot, panicked Saravanan hanged self on the same premises.

Another woman employee of the shop who reached the warehouse on Monday morning, was shocked to see Saravanan and Prabu dead and cried for help. Hearing her, others rushed to spot and alerted the Chintadripet police station. Their bodies were recovered and sent to the nearby government hospital for post-mortem examination.

Chintadripet police registered a case and are investigating the reason for the incident.
