Mobile snatchers strike thrice in a day
A software engineer, a woman journalist and a teenager were the victims of the latest snatching cases reported in the city within hours on Thursday night. All three lost their mobile phones to bike-borne snatchers during incidents that were reported at Taramani, Royapettah and Mylapore.

In the incident that took place at Taramani, the victim Sunil Kumar (35) of Sholinganallur, a software professional, was on his way to office. Sunil Kumar was walking on MGR Salai while speaking on his mobile phone. Suddenly, a bike-borne duo, intercepted him and snatched his mobile at knifepoint and escaped.
Sunil Kumar lodged a police complaint with Taramani police.
Police are collecting the CCTV footage from the locality to establish the identity of the snatchers. However, as the robbers were wearing helmets that covered their faces, it would be difficult to identify them from the footage.
In the snatching incident reported in Royapettah, a woman working as a sub-editor in a television news channel, was relieved of her mobile phone when she stepped out of the office on Thursday night.
In the third incident on Thursday night around 11.30 pm, Sathish of PNK Garden was walking home after buying tiffin while speaking to his friend over the phone.
Two men on a two-wheeler approached him. They threatened him at knifepoint, snatched his mobile phone and sped away. The victim has lodged a complaint with Mylapore police.
Police indicated that the suspects could be previous offenders, as the victim was able to positively identify one of the two after browsing through photographs in the history-sheeter albums. Further investigation is on.
