Mawa-selling gangs nabbed

Among the accused, A Sakthivel is a history sheeter with six cases of extortion and assault pending against him, while Srinivasan is also a criminal in the locality. The others arrested were identified as Siva, Karthik, Nandha, Prabu alias Jalal. Around 1 am on Sunday, Secretariat Colony police received information that two mawa-selling gangs were fighting in Thideer Nagar. When a team rushed to the spot, a group of 20 men gathered and started attacking the policemen.

Immediately, other patrol vehicles were directed to the spot and they brought the situation under control using mild force.

An AR constable Moideen suffered injuries in the incident. The gang members who escaped from the spot were nabbed one after another before 7 am on Sunday.
