Over 11,000 to be called for counselling by TANUVAS
A total of 11,745 candidates who had applied for the Bachelors course in Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry and BTech (Food technology, poultry technology and dairy technology) courses at the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (Tanuvas) have been considered eligible to take part in the counselling.

The university management released the rank list on Tuesday. Palanisamy Srikarthika of Erode was ranked first on the list for BVSc & AH with a total score of 199.67 marks. She was followed by Rajiniragu V of Salem (199.50) and Inthumathi PK of Namakkal (also 199.50).
Poojidha M of Perambalur bagged the first position in the rank list for BTech (FT/PT/ DT) with a total score of 199, followed by Manivasagam R of Ramanathapuram (197.75) and Illakiya S of Vellore (197.25).
It may be noted that among the total eligible candidates, 43.12 per cent were first graduates, 54.15 per cent were girls and 74.07 per cent were from rural areas. The counselling for BVSc & AH and BTech (FT /PT/DT) courses will be conducted during the fourth week of July.
However, the dates are yet to be finalised. While a total of 288 seats are available for BVSc & AH course, 94 seats are available in food, poultry and dairy technology courses.
Ex-serviceman’s son seeking med seat loses edu certificates
17-year-old Bhoopathi Raja of Namakkal, who passed Class 12 examinations with flying colours is now fighting against odds to get admitted to a medical college after all his original documents, including the NEET record sheet, were stolen from him at the Egmore railway station on Sunday.
He had reached Chennai with his uncle to attend the medical counselling under ex-servicemen quota. Raja, a student of SRV Boys Higher Secondary School in Rasipuram, had scored 1,114 marks in the Class 12 examination.
After disembarking from the Mangalore Express, which arrived around 4.20 am, the boy and his uncle who boarded at Virudhunagar dozed off on a seat at platform number 4 of the Egmore railway station.
CCTV camera footages show an elderly man and his associate lifting a bag belonging to Raja and walking towards a suburban train at 5.13 am. Raja has been pleading in social media networks with ‘good Samaritan’ people to return his documents, if they were found anywhere.
Meanwhile, a total of 808 candidates were allotted seats on the third day of MBBS/BDS counselling held at the Government Super Multi Super Specialty Hospital at Omandurar Estate on Tuesday, a release from the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) stated.
