NGO mining sand illegally: Petition

S Shanmugam of Kondamangalam village submitted that World Vision India obtained signatures from villagers to mine sand in the pretext of building lake bund. But contrary to initial assurances, it allegedly mined and transported the sand through lorries. 

According to him, the lake has already been mined extensively resulting in its depth reaching 20 feet. Any further mining  would render it more dangerous, he said.
