Stampede: CoP visits injured

A day after four people were trampled to death and about 35 people sustained injuries in stampede as thousands thronged the Rajaji Hall to get a glimpse of the mortal remains of DMK president M Karunanidhi, City Police Commissioner AK Viswanathan visited those undergoing treatment at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, on Thursday.

After meeting the Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami at his office, the police commissioner went to hospital and met head constable Anitha attached to Peravallur police station, who sustained injuries in the stampede and inquired her about the health condition. 

Later, he visited six other injured persons – K Aravind (24) and V Kaniharan (24) of Kallakurichi, Prabakaran (65) of Ekkaduthangal, P Kennady (55) of Puzhal, M Nahoor Gani (53) of Kovilambakkam and Thangaraj (60) – and requested the dean of the hospital, Jayanthi, and Resident Medical Officer Ilango to give them the required medical attention for their speedy recovery.
