Lorry owner killed, driver injured in accident near Kancheepuram
A 45-year-old man died on the spot as a truck he was travelling rammed another stationary lorry from behind at Baluchetti Chathiram near Kancheepuram in the wee hours of Sunday.

The deceased identified Sankar (45) was the owner of the truck that was carrying aluminium products from Chennai to Vellore. The driver fell asleep behind the wheel leading to the accident, said police. Around 4 am, when the truck reached the junction at Baluchetti Chathiram, it rammed the stationary lorry from behind before coming to halt. While Sankar had died on the spot, the driver escaped with minor injuries. Sankar’s body was sent to hospital for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered by Baluchetti Chathiram police and further investigation is on.
Teen dies as unknown vehicle hits bike
An 18-year-old boy died after a two-wheeler was hit by an unidentified vehicle in Kancheepuram on Saturday night.
Around 9.45 pm, Aakash (18) and his friend Balaji (24) attempted to cross the Chennai-Bangalore Highway at Sriperumbudur on their two-wheeler when they were hit by unidentified vehicle.
While the vehicle sped past, passers-by rushed the duo to the Chengalpattu Government Hospital where Aakash was declared brought dead. Balaji is being treated at an intensive care unit, said a police officer.
Just a day before, three men died in accident on ChennaiBangalore Highway at Sriperumbudur within a span of two hours.
