The staff and students of SRM University campus in Ramapuram were shocked as K Thenamudhan (22) of Rajbai Nagar in Avadi managed to enter the institution breaching the security and attacked Sujatha (name changed), a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) student.
Police said that the accused is a graduate and became friends with the victim on social media. “They were in a relationship for a few months, after which the girl snapped ties citing his behaviour,” said police. However, Thenamudhan harassed the girl to continue the relationship. “On Tuesday, Thenamudhan allegedly entered the college around 8.30 am and got into an argument with the girl. The accused shoved her against a wall and slapped her,” said sources.
But fellow students overpowered Thenamudhan. Based on a complaint from the college management, Royala Nagar police have registered a case and recorded the victim’s statement. Thenamudhan was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
