Police sources said that the victim, Li Khan, recently identified a few suspects in his locality in connection with a case, which is reported to have triggered the attack in revenge.

On Sunday night, when Li Khan was passing by Amir Mahal in Zam Bazaar, a gang of four surrounded and attacked him with weapons. They escaped from the spot before those in the vicinity could respond.

Finding Khan lying unconscious, passers-by rushed him to Government Royapettah Hospital.

From there, he was later transferred to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital.

When contacted, the investigation officer said that the victim was safe and was discharged from the hospital after treatment.

The officer added that the offenders would be identified and nabbed soon.

Meanwhile, North Beach police have arrested a man for stabbing his friend with weapons in a drunken brawl. Police said the accused Nagoor Meeran and the victim Vinoth Kumar, both daily wage labourers, were friends.

On Sunday night, a quarrel erupted between them after they consumed liquor near George Town court premises.

In a fit of rage, Nagoor Meeran stabbed Vinoth Kumar and ran away from the spot.

While Vinoth Kumar was admitted at Stanley Government
