Nurse escapes kidnap bid, doctor’s role suspected
A 22-year-old nurse narrowly escaped an abducted bid by a group of unidentified men in Padianallur on Tuesday. In the complaint lodged with the Red Hills police, she stated that a government doctor might be behind the crime as he was transferred based on the sexual harassment complaint lodged by her.

The victim Thamaraikani (22) hails from Vedaranyam and is working as a nurse for 108 ambulances attached to Primary Health Centre in Padianallur.
On Tuesday, Thamaraikani was walking back to her room after work around 8 pm, when two men intercepted her near Angalaparameshwari Temple. They allegedly tried to push her into a car. However, Thamaraikani resisted and they attacked her.
The woman escaped from them with injuries and lodged a complaint at Red Hills police station. In her complaint, she said that she suspected on one of the doctors who worked with her in the health centre.
Police said that the doctor sexually harassed her after which she lodged a complaint at Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services (DMS) in Teynampet. While the doctor was transferred, Thamaraikani continued in the primary health centre. The Red Hills police have registered a case and recorded the Thamairakani’s statement. She is currently undergoing treatment at Stanley Medical College Hospital.
