Haryana youth held for impersonation in government exam

The Semmanchery police have arrested a 24-year-old youth, hailing from Haryana, for impersonating his friend during a government exam for the recruitment of catering assistant to Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Police have also launched a hunt for his friend.

The accused G Ajay Chahal (24) of Haryana is unemployed, said police, who booked him under Sections 417 and 419 of the IPC and 66D of the Information Technology Act (IT Act) and remanded him in judicial custody. He wrote the examination while the actual candidate gave him answers over mobile phone sitting in an unidentified place.

The incident took place on Monday at a private college in Sholinganallur where 17 candidates appeared for the exam for the recruitment of catering assistant for ISRO. During the inspection, exam supervisors apprehended Ajay Chahal for using mobile phone inside the exam hall.

During the inquiry, they found that he was posing as Manish Rajeshkumar, his friend and the original candidate.

He also provided Manish’s PAN card as the identity proof.

The controller of the exam Uday Kiran was alerted and based on his complaint, police arrested Ajay and have launched a hunt for Manish.
