Rain in next 48 hours for Chennai, suburbs
Incessant rains lashed Chennai city and suburbs in some parts of the State as the low pressure area over East central Bay of Bengal was likely to become depression during next 12 hours and further intensify into deep depression in the following 12 hours.

Met office sources said the depression would intensify and move west-northwestwards towards north Andhra-South Odisha coast in the next 48 hours.
Wind speed is likely to be 35 to 45 kmph and might increase to 65 to 75 kmph from Thursday morning. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea close to Andaman and South Bay of Bengal for the next three days.
Sources said light to moderate rain or thundershower was likely to occur at a few places over north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and at isolated places over south Tamil Nadu.
For Chennai city, the sky condition was likely to be generally cloudy. Rain or thundershower was likely to occur in some areas during the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, heavy rains lashed Chennai city and suburbs, as the climate remained pleasant since Wednesday morning. The rains, which began around 1.30 am, continued till 8 am.
Chennai city recorded 18.8 mm, while the suburban Meenambakkam received 24 mm during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Wednesday morning.
