Kanchi cops form special teams to find missing girl from gypsy family
The Kancheepuram district superintendent formed two special teams to trace the 2-year-old girl, who was kidnapped while she was sleeping with her parents near Kalpakkam on Saturday night.

According to police, Venkadesan (30), the child’s father, hails from Pauvnchur in Maduranthagam. He, along with his wife Kaaliammal (25) and daughter Harini (2), used to sell cheap pearls and other accessories from a tempo. On Saturday night, at 1.30 Venkadesan realised that Harini, who was sleeping inside the mosquito net, was missing.
On Sunday evening, Annaikattu police registered a case and launched a search.
Following this, Kancheepuram SP Santosh Hadimani formed two special teams to trace the girl. After checking the CCTV footage from Annaikattu, Police said the kidnappers used a two-wheeler, and are tracking the mobile phone networks in the area to find out who all crossed the place on the day of the incident. While the cops put in their efforts to trace Harini, the parents, too, are on the lookout for the girl.
A large number of people from the couple’s community have arrived at the village in search of the child.
