Wards of fishing community to get free IAS coaching

Anna University and TN Fisheries Department will jointly launch a free special IAS coaching for students from the fishermen community.

Apart from possessing a degree with 80 per cent marks in class 12, several norms were laid for the selection of candidates for the training.

VP Thandapani, Director of Fisheries Department, said that the candidate should be wards of fishermen, who was shot dead while fishing, injured and disabled in an accident while fishing or have lost both parents. Also, wards of fishermen whose parents (one of them) is a member of Tamil Nadu Fishermen Welfare Board is eligible.

Anna Institute of Management will prepare the syllabus for the Civil Services Exam screening test. Eligible candidates will have to appear for a two-hour competitive entrance exam conducted by the department. The examination will have objective tyoe questions on history of India and Indian national movement, Indian and world geography, Indian polity and governance, economic and social development, general issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and climate change.

The Entrance examination will be conducted in Chennai. Rs 10 lakhs has been allotted to implement the special coaching for 20 candidates under Corporate Social Responsibility of Tamil Nadu Fisheries Development Corporation.
