Helplines launched in Tiruvallur
The Tiruvallur collector Maheshwari Ravikumar on Friday kickstarted the monsoon preparedness work in the district.

She conducted a meeting to discuss relief measures such as relief camps to be implemented in case of flooding.
In a press release, the Collector said the entire district is divided into 8 circles and 48 wards. As many as 22 zonal groups and 64 round-the-clock squads have been formed, while 660 relief centres have been set up.
Members of the public can contact 044-27664177, 044-27666746, 044-27665248 for flood-related complaints, she said, adding that residents can also contact the authorities through WhatsApp on 9444317863 (Ponneri) and 9444317862 (Tiruvallur).
District administration sources said that Ponneri and Gummidipoondi taluks, vulnerable for flood, are under surveillance. Sand bags have been kept ready to plug potential breach of waterbodies.
