Four students arrested for attacking railway cop

Four law college students were arrested on charges of attacking a Railway Police constable reportedly after he asked them not to create nuisance on the train near Chengalpattu on Monday.

The arrested persons were identified as Ajith, Vincent Raj, Suman and Shyam. All of the them were 19-year-old, studying in Chengalpattu Law College. 

Chandrasekar (25), a Government Railway Police constable was posted on duty at the Singaperumal Kovil railway station on Friday evening. When an EMU proceeding towards the beach reached the station around 5 pm, he noticed a group of college students creating ruckus and disturbing other passengers on the train. 

Chandrasekar got inside the train and asked the students to stop the ruckus. This led to a quarrel and the students attacked Chandrasekar. After getting down from the train, he filed a complaint at with the Chengalpattu railway police and a case was registered. The police also launched a hunt for the attackers. 

Following that, the Railway police saw the students travelling on an EMU around the same time on Monday. The police arrested all the four of them and remanded them in judicial custody.
