NGT judge visits Perungudi dumpyard

According to Chennai Corporation Commissioner D Karthikeyan, NGT has appointed an eight-member team under the chairmanship of Justice P Jothimani to monitor restoration of Perungudi dumping yard.
“The team had visited the Perungudi premises and inspected the works carried out at the dumping yard. The corporation officials explained about the works to the Justice and his team,” a Chennai Corporation official said.
Municipal administration and water supply secretary Harminder Singh, Chennai Corporation Commissioner D Karthikeyan and officials from Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) had accompanied the team.
The civic body has been dumping garbage collected from Teynampet, Kodambakkam, Valasaravakkam, Alandur, Adyar, Perungudi and Sholinganallur zones in the Perungudi dumping yard.
