Train robbery victim dies of injuries

Sideshwar Doss, the train passenger who sustained injuries in a fall after robbers tried to snatch his mobile, succumbed to injuries on Thursday.

The police arrested two in connection with the crime and were on the lookout for another person involved in the crime. The victim who sat near the door of the general compartment had slipped and fallen onto the railway track. The police said he was hit using a stick by the robbers who were near the platform.


Other passengers of the Coromandel Express train heading from Kolkata to Chennai informed the authorities. 

The injured Sidheshwar Doss, a native of UP, was admitted at the Government Stanley Medical College Hospital where he died on Thursday. The incident happened at Nandhiyambakkam railway station when the train was slowly moving as it waited for the signal. The suspects were standing near the platform when they hit the man’s hand so that he would drop his mobile. He was sitting on the step of the door of the compartment because of the crowd inside the compartment. The Korrukupet railway police have registered a case and arrested two juveniles from Nandiyambakkam.
