“Our Infinity Hunt will be a massive tribute to him, as we are all Marvel fanboys and being the official licensee of Marvel in Chennai, it is unto us to make his legacy proud,” says Sarhan Ram of the collective.
Infinity Hunt is an exclusive, open-world hunt that gives participants the opportunity to take part in the first Hollywood film-based game in India, inspired by the blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War.
The challenge is going viral on social media with Chennaiites across the city signing up to be part of the hunt, that is scheduled to happen in a few weeks.
“We have more than 5,000 participants registered already within three days,” adds Sarhan.
The game plays out like this: Six Infinity Stones have been loaded into secret locations scattered around Chennai. Participants (individuals or teams) must locate, pick up the stones and get away with it while being the fastest. The first to collect all the six stones and get to the secret base will win the Infinity Gauntlet and be declared the winner.
“In order to collect a stone, one must solve the riddle associated with each of the stone in the app. You don’t have to be the first, but you need to be the fastest. A player can go for any of the four stones in the beginning,” reads the rule of the game, that has attracted interest from several college students and corporates in the city.
There are even cosplayers who are attending in costume. Priyanka R, a copywriter, says, “My friends and I are going as Thor, Black Widow and Spiderman.
We are going to be traveling all around the city to find the Stones, and after Stan Lee’s demise, it is such an important occasion for us to pay tribute to such an inspiration. We will be traveling in a car with ‘Stan the Man’ posters and artwork displayed on it.”
“We are going as a three-member team, and being huge fans of Marvel and the Avengers series, we are truly excited. Amidst the vast number of marathons, treasure hunts and such contests organised in Chennai these days, we are glad there is something like this which is truly unique. This is what we need more of for Comic-Con to come to our city,” remarks Subash Ranjit, an engineering student in town.
