Chennai Corporation sends relief materials
Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner D Karthikeyan on Monday flagged off seven trucks carrying relief materials to Nagapattinam district, which was worst affected due to the cyclone.

According to an official statement, the civic body has sent 12,874 biscuit packets, 11,017 water bottles, 3,000 bread packets, 3,250 sanitary napkins, 3,175 blankets, 125 kg rice among other essential items.
“We have also sent candles, match boxes, toothpastes and toothbrushes apart from food products,” a Corporation official said.
Meanwhile, traders in the Koyambedu wholesale market have also contributed to the relief efforts. “The traders have sent vegetables and fruits worth Rs 20 lakh. The trucks carrying them left to the affected districts on Tuesday evening. Many traders have contributed to this initiative by providing their stocks,” a CMDA official said.
