Ex-serviceman held for harassing MBBS student

The MGR Nagar police have arrested an ex-serviceman for allegedly harassing an MBBS student from Kerala in KK Nagar.

The 21-year-old victim from Kerala is a final-year MBBS student at ESIC Medical College at KK Nagar and staying in the college hostel. The accused identified as R Ganesan (45) of Virudhunagar district, worked as a security guard in the college. He was hired by a private agency, said sources.


The police said that Ganesan asked the victim to marry him a few months ago. After the girl complained to the hostel warden, Ganesan was fired from the job. However, Ganesan reportedly continued to harass the girl. On Friday too, he followed her to the college and asked her to marry him. After the girl’s father lodged a formal complaint against Ganesan at the MGR Nagar police station, a case was registered and Ganesan was arrested. After the inquiry, police said that Ganesan wasalready married and has an eight-year-old daughter. He was remanded in judicial custody.
