MTC bus runs over college student on bike
A 18-year-old boy died in a road accident in Parry’s Corner on Friday night after an MTC bus ran over him. Parthiban, a first-year graduate student was driving a two-wheeler while his friend Nandakumar (18) was riding pillion when the accident happened, police said.

When the duo was on NSC Bose Road near TNSC bank at Parry’s corner, the MTC bus plying from Thiruvottiyur to Poonamallee rammed the two-wheeler. Parthiban sustained a head injury while Nandakumar, too, suffered injuries. The duo was rushed to the Stanley Government Hospital where Parthiban was declared dead on arrival and Nandakumar is undergoing treatment. The Flower Bazaar traffic investigation police registered a case and further investigations are on.
Meanwhile, two teenage boys drowned in a lake near Chengalpattu on Saturday. Police said M Susil (16) and Sathya (13) from Barathipuram near Chengalpattu had gone for a swim with three others to a lake in Alapakkam near Chengalpattu when the incident happened.
While they were swimming, Susil and Sathya began to drown in the lake and rescue attempts by their friends and passers-by failed. They were students of a government-aided school in Chengalpattu. The Chengalpattu Thaluk police team retrieved the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination.
