Woman robbed of jewellery, phone at knife point in MRTS station
A 27-year-old woman was robbed of jewels and mobile phone at Chintadripet MRTS railway station at knife point by an unidentified man on Monday night. This is the latest case of an train commuter coming under attack, coming close on the heels of a robbery and stabbing at Thiruvallikeni MRTS station in September.

According to police, Vimala, who works as receptionist at a private hospital in Vepery, was waiting for the last train to Tiruvanmiyur as usual when the incident happened. Narrating the incident, Vimala said in her complaint said the man who robbed her was dressed decently. Due to this she did not suspect him to be a criminal/
However, around 10.30 pm, as she was standing on the platform talking to her friend over the phone, the man suddenly pulled out a knife and pointed it at her. He threatened Vimala with the knife, asking her to hand over her valuables.
Fearing for her safety, Vimala said she did as she was asked. She removed her earrings and a ring and handed them over to the man along with her mobile phone. As the last train to Tiruvanmiyur approached the station, the man fled the spot. Panicked Vimala boarded the train and lodged a complaint at the railway police station in Tiruvanmiyur on Monday night. A case has been registered and police are trying to identify the suspect.
