Imposter journos held for extorting money from bizmen
The Minjur police on Thursday arrested six men who were posing as journalists. The police said that gang was involved in many criminal activities in and around Minjur.

Upon receiving information that a gang of six men posing as journalists was involved in money extortion from local businessmen and other criminal activities, a police team tracked down their activities.
Meanwhile, a police team on patrol duty intercepted the vehicle on which the gang was travelling. While questioning, they gave contradictory replies. On suspicion, the police probed them further and found that it was the gang of imposter journalists they were looking for.
The police also found that the six men were involved in money laundering besides running an extortion racket. According to them, the key accused, Kasim Basha (34) from Ennore, was involved in an extortion case at Sathankadu for allegedly threatening a Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP) to pay him Rs 2 lakh and was also arrested in connection with the case.
The other accused include Tamil basha (31) from Chennai, Abdul Rehman (32) from Vysarpadi, Yuvaraj (30) from Adyar, Babu (28) from Vellore district and Varun Kumar from Chennai. Investigations are on.
