Woman, daughter arrested for Rs 1 crore job fraud
Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the city police arrested a mother-daughter duo for allegedly cheating about 150 people of over Rs 1 crore on the promise of getting them jobs in several leading private companies.

The accused, Amudha, and her daughter Monisha were traced to their hideout in Bengaluru and arrested, said the police. The anti-job fraud wing of CCB registered a case based on a complaint lodged by Muthuraj of Nanganallur. The duo was remanded in judicial custody on Friday.
The investigation officer told DT Next that Amudha and Monisha started a job consultancy firm in Valasaravakkam two years ago and collected money from several prospective candidates. When the job aspirants started demanding their money back as the duo did not get them jobs as promised, they escaped to Bengaluru, he added.
Woman cheats rly employee of Rs 5 lakh, nabbed
The Avadi police arrested a 45-year-old woman for cheating a man of Rs 5 lakh after promising to get a job for his son in the army.
According to police, Muraliram (59) of Villivakkam is a railway employee. He got introduced to Shyamala from Avadi. Shyamala promised Muraliram that she would get a job for his son in the army and got Rs 5 lakh from him in June, 2016.
After persistent queries, Shyamala gave a job offer letter to the Muraliram which turned out to be fake. Muraliram met her again and asked her to return the money. When she failed to do so, he registered a complaint at Ambattur Deputy Commissioner office. Based on his complaint, the Avadi police registered a case and arrested Shyamala, who was absconding, on Friday.
