500 students take part in anti-plastics campaign

With little over a week remaining for the plastic ban in the state, the Greater Chennai Corporation had conducted an awareness campaign against the use of plastic. More than 500 students and 40 teaching staff participated in the campaign organised at CPCL Polytechnic College on Friday, a statement from the Chennai Corporation said.

“During the campaign, the students were apprised of the ill-effects of using plastic and its environmental impacts,” said TG Srinivasan, the health education officer at the Corporation.


He added that the participants were sensitised on source reduction (destroying mosquito breeding places) to prevent dengue. “Nilavembu Kudineer was distributed to the students and they took an oath against using plastic,” the release said.
