Class 12 boy ends life in West Mambalam

A Class 12 boy committed suicide at his house in Brindavan Colony at West Mambalam on Friday. Police said that R Thamizhselvan was dejected after his father Rajiv scolded him for scoring poor marks in term exams.

On Friday evening, he reportedly he hanged himself when his parents were away. Thamizhselvan’s aunt who is said to be slightly mentally unstable noticed him and cried for help. Neighbours rushed to rescue him, but he was declared brought dead at the hospital. Ashok Nagar police registered a case and sent his body to Royapettah Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Thamizhselvan’s father is a house painter,.He has an elder brother, a second-year college student. After inquiry, police said that the teenager had failed in four papers in the quarterly exams and did not do well in half-yearly exams too after which he took the extreme step. Further investigation is on.
