“Every party wishes to form an alliance for the Parliamentary elections and like all other parties, the BJP will also form an alliance, but the party is not under compulsion to form one with any particular party,” said Radhakrishnan, while addressing reporters in Chennai airport.

Recently, state Handloom and Textiles Minister OS Manian hinted that the AIADMK will not form an alliance with the BJP in the Parliamentary elections and his speech created a controversy both in the AIADMK and the BJP as both the parties were inching towards forming an alliance.

When Radhakrishnan was countered with the statement of Manian, the Union Minister replied, “the BJP is not the same as in 2014 and now the BJP has strengthened itself in the state. Current situation in Tamil Nadu is favouring the BJP and any alliance formed by the BJP will see through the elections,” Radhakrishnan said.

He also said that the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is widely appreciated by the people of all sections and his popularity is growing. Under the prevailing circumstances, the BJP is in no mood to depend on a party and the BJP is ready to welcome any party that joins hands on an equal platform.

However, Radhakrishnan refused to answer the query on whether the BJP will be part of an alliance or will lead an alliance in the state, in the upcoming Parliamentary elections.

When asked about Modi’s foreign visits costing more than Rs 2,000 crore to the exchequer, Radhakrishnan replied that unlike the previous Prime Ministers, when Modi visits a foreign country he is seen as a man with administrative capacities. Foreign countries started praising India and our leadership only due to Modi, he added.

He also said that every Indian should be proud of Modi as he was the first Indian Prime Minister who enabled foreign transactions in Rupees and not in any other foreigncurrency.
