Talking to DT Next, a source from the department said that given the challenges faced by students and youngsters in a transient world, it is essential to find out how they can be tackled. “The programme will give the state government an idea about the possible intervention programmes that have to be planned to deal with the issues on a large scale.”
The issues they seek to gauge include those with peers, society, family and even with themselves. The source added that in a world pervaded by technology, the programme will reach out to the teens who need help in a crucial stage of their lives.
“The idea is to look at the social evils that affect them, including child sexual abuse, child marriages. They might not be in a position to discuss these openly with their friends or family. We have seen families who are not aware of the concerns and issues of their children. However, it has to be identified and taken up,” he added.
