Sudagar, 33, was riding a bike on the Chennai – Tirupathi highway late on Wednesday when he met with an accident. “While he was returning home, he tried to overtake a truck near Pandooyur. A car was coming from the opposite direction collided with the motorcycle head on, throwing Sudagar off it,” a police official said.
The police said that a portion of his leg got cut off in the impact of the collision and when they reached the spot, they found the severed leg but not the body.
Locals who gathered at the spot and tried to help the police locate the body, but in vain. The police also checked with the nearest government hospital but could not find it. At this, the villagers suspected foul play and staged a protest.
By Thursday afternoon, however, the Tiruvallur police received information that an unidentified body was found in a cement-loaded truck that had reached Cudappah early during the day.
“When we came to know that the body was missing a leg, we were almost sure that it was Sudagar’s. It might have landed on the truck following the collision,” an officer said.
By late evening, efforts were under wary to bring Sudagar’s body to Tiruvallur. Investigation in the matter is under way.
