History-sheeter murdered in full public view at Vyasarpadi

A 35-year-old history-sheeter was stabbed to death in full public view in Otteri on Saturday evening.

Police said that Dinesh, a resident of Otteri, was walking on Stephens Road at Vyasarpadi around 8.15 pm when a gang intercepted him and stabbed him several times with knives. Dinesh collapsed and died on the spot while the gang fled the spot. On information, the Otteri police rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem examination. Dinesh was involved in several murder and attempt to murder cases, said the police. The police suspect the murder to be an act of revenge.

Two men held with weapons 

Meanwhile, the Sembium police arrested a duo and seized two machetes from them on Friday night. The accused have been identified as Sarath of Vyasarpadi and his friend Sudhakar. The Sembium inspector Jeganathan, who was patrolling in the locality on Friday, found that the duo moving in a suspicious manner.

As they tried to flee on seeing the police personnel, the inspector chased and secured the duo. During interrogation, they said that Sarath developed a quarrel with a tea shop owner in the locality under the influence of alcohol recently.

They were roaming around in the locality with weapons to murder him. Both were remanded in judicial custody.
