Suicide pact by family of 3 over financial issue

A couple and their six-year-old daughter were found dead on Friday at Kolathur. Police said that they allegedly committed suicide due to the financial problems.

Shameel Ahmed (40), a resident of Thirumal Nagar, owned a mobile shop at Vinayagapuram at Chennai. He was living with his wife Tabu (36) and six-year-old daughter Shameem Taj.  When the neighbours checked their house on Saturday morning, all three of them were found hanging from the ceiling, said police. After the Kolathur police were informed, the bodies were sent to Stanley Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Shameel was struggling due to financial problems and did not pay rent for four months. The police suspect that this could have led to the suicide.
