Phone snatched two months ago recovered from 18-year-old

A mobile phone that was snatched two months ago was recovered from an 18-year-old boy who was arrested on Thursday, said the police.

The teenager was identified as Kumar from Pammal, who already has six mobile phone snatching and robbery cases against him. Chinnapa Raja (23), a software professional from Tambaram, was walking on Gandhi Road in Tambaram while talking on the phone on November 23. Suddenly, two youngsters on a bike snatched his mobile phone and fled the spot. Following this, Chinnapa Raja filed a complaint with theTambaram police.


The police, with the help of cybercrime wing, were trying to trace the mobile phone using the IMEI number. On Wednesday, they found that the mobile phone was switched on near Pallavaram. The Tambaram police were alerted immediately, who traced the device to Kumar at his house in Pammal. During interrogation, the police found that Kumar along with his friend snatched the mobile phone from Chinnapa Raja. Kumar was remanded in judicial custody and sent to Puzhal prison. Police have launched a search for his friend.
