Motorists who were travelling on the road said the visibility was very poor from around 4 am on Saturday. Due to this, the traffic movement was hit badly. The vehicles that had fog lamp managed to move, though at a snail’s pace, while those on heavy vehicles were forced to park it on the side of the road when the thick fog reduced visibility to near zero.
According to Naveen Kumar, one of the motorists who was travelling on the route said it was near impossible to drive during this time as nothing was visible due to the fog. Kumaraguru from Madurantakam said such was the fog that he was forced to park the car on the roadside for a few hours. “I couldn’t reach office on time,” he added.
Finally, the fog cleared at around 8 am, after nearly four hours, following which normal traffic resumed on the highway.
