25 sovereigns burgled in Porur

At least 25 sovereigns and Rs 60,000 in cash were burgled from a house near Porur on Sunday.

The victim, Balathandayuthapani of Samayapuram, went to his native with family members when the incident took place. On Sunday, he returned and found his house broken open. The jewels and cash were missing. Based on his complaint, the Maduravoyal police are investigating.

In another incident, seven mobile phones were stolen from a house in Virugambakkam. The house on AVM Street was occupied by a group of youngsters from north India.


On Monday morning, they found that their mobile phones were missing. One of them, Ashish Vishwakarma who works as labourer, has lodged a complaint and the police are investigating. Meanwhile, the MGR Nagar police have launched a hunt for an unidentified man, who snatched the mobile phone from a college lecturer on Sunday.
