Over 20,000 kids participate in St John’s science exhibition
As a part of its ongoing Golden Jubilee year celebrations, St John’s Senior Secondary School, Mandaveli, hosted RAYS 2019, Chennai’s largest art and science exhibition, an exclusive fair designed by and for the school students.

The three-day knowledge gathering exhibition was inaugurated by the chief guest, J Daniel Chellappa, Senior Scientist, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre at the school premises.
Nalini Wilson, correspondent and senior principal, St John’s Senior Secondary School, Mandaveli, presided over the inaugural.
This exhibition created an opportunity witnessed participation from more than 20,000 students from 190 schools of Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts and the general public.
Around 800 informative models were showcased, revealing appreciable talents of school students and their innovative thoughts in the field of arts and science.
Highlights of the exhibition were projects on a live dam, waterfalls, hill cave, 3D galaxy, planetarium, mars colonisation, robots and trains designed and demonstrated by students, as well as large agricultural models and an edible castle.
A series of entertainment based events ran alongside the exhibition, which included games and a doll show.
‘Young Student Scientist’ awards were presented to students who have exhibited innovated models on Valedictory Day.
