Elderly man steals Mexican couple’s valuables

Police said the couple were part of a group of 30 from Mexico who had come on a trip to India on January 27. After visiting Mumbai, they reached Chennai on Tuesday. On that day, they spent time at the Marina beach, Gandhi Mandapam and stayed at Mahabalipuram. Later on Wednesday morning, they went to neighbouring Kancheepuram to visit the temples there. When they went inside the Sankara mutt, they all had placed their baggage at the waiting hall before going inside. When they returned, the couple, Koshay (40) and her wife Eppi Koshay, realised their baggage was missing. Police said it contained a camera, said to be worth Rs 2 lakh, their visa and passports along with the debit card. When they checked the CCTV footage from the area, the police found an elderly man wearing veshti walking out with the bag. Siva Kanchi police have registered a case and are searching for the man.
