Drunk man rams 3 cars, injures woman pedestrian
A private firm employee, who drove a car under the influence of alcohol and rammed three other cars, was arrested by the Tirumangalam traffic investigation police on Saturday night and released on bail. A woman was injured in the incident.

T Kathikeyan (27) of Krishnagiri district, who works in an automobile company and stays in Nolambur, drove a car in an inebriated state from his friend’s house in Ayanavaram. On the way back home, he hit three other cars. His vehicle came to a halt after hitting a pedestrian, who was identified as Thilagam.
Passers-by, who witnessed the incident, thrashed Karthikeyan and handed him over at the ICF police station. The injured woman was taken to a private hospital.
As it was a case of drunken driving, Karthikeyan was handed over to the Tirumangalam traffic investigation wing. The police said that Karthikeyan came forward to compensate the damages caused and also bear the cost of the woman’s treatment. Due to this, the victims did not lodge a complaint. The police only booked him for drunken driving under section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act and released him on bail.
Eight-year-old boy run over byMTC bus in T Nagar
An eight-year-old boy was run over by an MTC bus when he was riding pillion on his way back home with his neighbour in T Nagar on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Tarun Roshan, a Class 4 student and son of Balamurugan, an employee of a star hotel in the city. The accident took place at 10.40 pm on Thanikachalam Salai when Tarun and his neighbour Ananda Vasan were returning home after dropping Tarun’s father Balamurugan at T Nagar bus stand.
Balamurgan was going to Tiruchy. An MTC bus (route no 147A, plying between T Nagar and Mogappair) tried to overtake the bike and hit it on the side. The rider, Ananda Vasan, lost balance and both fell off the bike. While Tarun came under the rear wheels of the bus and was crushed to death on the spot, the rider Ananda Vasan escaped unhurt. On information, the Pondy Bazaar traffic investigation police rushed to the spot and sent Tarun’s body to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for autopsy. The body was handed over to the family on Sunday. A case was registered and the MTC driver K Sankar (44) of Polur was arrested. Later, he was released on station bail. Further investigation is on.
