Blue Cross volunteers rescued a 10-month old dog that was found shuttling on a Velachery-Beach EMU train on Wednesday.
In the morning, the commuters who boarded the EMU at Velachery railway station found a Doberman crossbreed seated on one of the seats inside the train. They were not sure how to handle the dog travelling with them. When they tried to shoo it away, the dog merely moved from the seat to crawl under the seats.
From the morning, the dog made several trips between Velachery and Beach stations, before the station master at Velachery finally informed the Blue Cross. Soon, Blue Cross director Dawn Williams and team arrived at the railway station.
But as the dog was traveling towards Beach at that time, the team had to wait for nearly two hours for the train to return to Velachery. Around noon, when the train reached Velachery station, Blue Cross volunteers approached the dog. They fed it food and managed to bring it out of the train.
According to Dawn Williams, the dog might have either escaped from its owner or the owner could have abandoned it at the station. The volunteers eventually took the dog to Blue Cross office at Velachery. It would be kept there till someone came forward claiming ownership.
