Rs 2L snatched from pedestrian in Flower Bazaar

An unidentified person snatched away Rs 2 lakh from an 18-year-old boy at Flower Bazaar on Thursday.

P Vasanth of Mint Street encashed a cheque at an Axis bank branch on Rattan Bazaar Salai around 2.15 pm and put the cash in an envelope before returning home. When he was crossing Govindappa-Adiyappa Road junction, someone tapped on his shoulder. When Vasanth turned around to look who it was, an unidentified man snatched the envelope from his hand and merged into the crowd. Based on his complaint, the Flower Bazaar police have registered a case and further investigation is on.


40-year-old mugged of phone and cash


A 40-year-old was mugged and robbed of Rs 35,000 and a mobile phone by an unidentified bike-borne duo in Maduravoyal. The victim, Ramadoss of Nazarethpet, who runs a timber shop in Porur, withdrew the cash from an ATM at Erikarai bus stop in Maduravoyal and was on his way home.


At Karambakkam, a bike-borne duo intercepted him on a deserted road and attacked him with a knife before fleeing the spot with valuables. Based on his complaint, the Valasaravakkam police have registered a case and have launched a hunt for the offenders.
