In a departmental circular dated March 20, Commissioner of Municipal Administration D Karthikeyan, also directed the local bodies to pay the scrutiny fees collected by them in the bank accounts of local planning authorities or Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) concerned. The government has fixed Rs 500 as the scrutiny fees.
“Local bodies should send their action taken reports on or before first and sixteenth day of every month to the Commissionerate of Municipal Administration. Plots located at the unapproved layouts should not be regularised,” he added.
The development has come after a government order released in February that empowered the planning authorities and local bodies to regularise the plots located in the layouts for which the in-principle approvals were given before November 3, 2018. This was done under the regularisation of unapproved plots and layouts scheme.
However, plot owners, who apply on or after November 4, should have to pay regularisation charges in addition to scrutiny fee (Rs 500) and development charges.
Regularisation charges of Rs 110 per sqm for the city corporation area would be collected if the applications were received from November 4, 2018 to May 3, 2019. For municipal areas, Rs 66 per sqm would be collected and Rs 33 per sqm would be collected for areas covered by town panchayats and village panchayats.
For the applications received from May 4 to November 3, 2019, Rs 125, Rs 75 and Rs 37.50 sqm for city, municipal and rural panchayats area, respectively. For the applications received from November 4, 2019, regularisation charges would be Rs 150, Rs 90 and Rs 45.
The government announced regularisation of unapproved plots and layouts in May 2017 and closed the scheme on November 3, 2018, after providing two extensions.
