A senior official from the CMRL said, “The public has requested us to schedule the operation early. It will be helpful for people who travel in early morning flight and buses. We will try it on a trial basis before fully implementing it.”
At present, the CMRL services operate from 6 am to 10 pm. With the new timings, the trains will run for every thirty minutes during the extended hours. It means the first train will start at 4.30 am and the next train will be scheduled at 5 am. Further, the first and last trains will depart from all terminal stations including Washermanpet, Chennai Central, St Thomas Mount and Chennai Airport. From 6 am, the frequency would be seven minutes during peak hours and 14 minutes during the non-peak hours.
