“There are many such men roaming around in the beach. We don’t know what they are capable of. Such persons can sometimes turn violent without any provocation,” said the woman officer, on Sunday. On Saturday morning, the police officer and other women walkers had to seek help from police to remove a half-naked man who was sleeping on the bench. “He had his lungi on his head. He had kept his footwear on the bench. When a sanitary worker asked him to get up and cover himself properly, he started fighting with the worker. There many such persons in the beach whose behaviour is unpredictable,” the officer noted, recalling the incident she witnessed on Saturday.
Mostly drunk, continue to sleep on the benches making morning walkers, uncomfortable to use the space. “Those women who meditate sitting on the benches may have to make a male stand as escort near them,” she noted adding that Marina should be made safer for women.
