Thousands of youngsters who stood in winding queues since midnight grew restless as the tickets were allegedly issued in a slow manner. While some claimed that only six tickets were issued in an hour, youngsters turned violent as the authorities announced that all the tickets were sold out within a few hours. As some hurled abuses at the authorities for cheating them, others attempted to bypass the queue, leading to a commotion.
Temporary wooden barricades erected to streamline the queue collapsed and a few people fell on the road and sustained minor injuries. A heavy posse of police who had been deployed to control the crowd had to resort to mild lathi charge to disperse them.
A woman IPL fan complained that police personnel themselves bought tickets in bulk and allowed only those known to them to buy tickets.
